In addition to its collective bargaining units, the Chicago News Guild has a General Press Unit. The General Press Unit (affectionately known as GenPress) is a unit available for folks with a demonstrated affinity for Union activities within the Chicago NewsGuild, but are not currently part of a bargaining unit. Current members include folks who may be working in non-union / family-owned small shops,  journalists who are between union jobs,  and retirees.  GenPress members pay union dues and are honored to participate as volunteers of the Chicago NewsGuild.
