 On Tuesday May 21st, 6-7p we’ll be kicking off our Local Wide Organizing Committee. 

Chicago News Guild is growing! We have new units in every stage of organizing and bargaining and get inquiries almost weekly from shops that are interested in joining CNG. This is extremely exciting and has a lot to do with the member-led approach of our local. In order to support new groups of workers, and sustainably grow the power of our union, we are recruiting for the local-wide organizing committee. 

Focus of CNG Organizing Committee

• Discuss and strategize new units to support in organizing

• Ensure the success of new units currently organizing with CNG

• Participate in building an organizing hub, including resources and active participants. 

• Review and build the local’s organizing tools and systems

• Ensure that our organizing and growth maintains the goals and values of the local

• Connect resources to campaigns

• Build up a member organizing program
