CHICAGO HEADLINE CLUB – PROTECTING THE PUBLIC’S RIGHT TO KNOW
We journalists are a tribe. And that’s why the Chicago Headline Club is holding its second Scribe Aid event. We’ll sing, take in some very good jazz and catch up. Most importantly, we’ll raise funds for journalists out-of-work or just not earning enough.
So join us at 8 p.m. Dec. 7th at the Heartland Cafe.
Mary Schmich and Eric Zorn and others will lead us, as before, in seasonal songs and a burst of heartfelt solidarity, too.
Curtis Black, long-time hack and author of http://www.newstips.org and a great horn player, will lead his group.
We’ll also raffle off a new I-pod Touch.
The last time we did this, we raised a heap of money, and left after many hours. And, as you know, tough times persist for some of our colleagues. So please join us at the Heartland Cafe, 7000 North Glenwood Ave., Chicago, 773 465 8005.
Your event dabblers,
Flynn McRoberts & Steve Franklin
And if you know of anyone who can use our help, please ask them to contact us. We’ll provide up to $400 a person for a class, equipment, or money to keep a story going. But If we raise more, we’ll give out more. Contact firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com
