Bob Shaevel is currently the Unit Chair of the Illinois Organizers Union – Professional Staff. He has served in that capacity since February of 2009. Bob works as Illinois Federation of Teachers Research Director and Employee Benefits Specialist, located in Skokie. He has held this position since July of 2005. Prior to transferring to his current position, he worked as an IFT Field Service Director and Business Agent in various offices around the northern Chicago suburbs since 1983. Before becoming employed for the IFT, Bob taught Special Education, was the President of the SEDOL Teachers Union and the Lake County Federation of Teachers Local 504, affiliates of the American Federation of Teachers. Bob and his wife, Kathy – also a member of the Guild – live in Glenview. They have five children.
